For such
a doll as
Liavy, tee
times are not
what the two of
us kin do. While
others played golf,
wandered fairways,
we spooned luke tea
like my Bubbe or Zeyde
did for me when I’m diapered,
only back then where still crawling,
straight Lipton (plus a bit of schmaltz
herring) is replaced by much fancier blends
with pine nuts plus mint mixed into our clear
glass mug just as café-owing Parisian Jews by way of
North Africa taught. Which is so very far beyond their ken --
those Polish shtetl grandparents who also fled home because of pogroms.
