Old saw went, Boomers take better body care than our parents
so clichés assumed fitter life.
In retrospect there is something you could say, maybe see,
that was just too self-satisfied:
me skipping into surf of turquoise Mediterranean waves
hand-in-hand with gay Israeli grandkids
on the day I became a septuagenarian. Ohhh yippee
Mister-master-doctor looks decades
younger than his stated age!! which didn’t last
until I waded toward 72 then got caught
in quicksand no way back as Mom survives…
I felt overly sheltered when Gramps disappeared --
how will my kids deal death with theirs?
